Hapnin
Social Event Discovery Platform
Overview
Hapnin is a centralized event discovery platform that helps people easily find, verify, and plan attendance for nearby events with confidence.
The Problem
Across many states, people are genuinely interested in attending social events, festivals, faith-based gatherings, and educational programs. However, discovering these events remains a frustrating experience because there is no single, reliable platform that shows what is happening around them in one place. Event information is often scattered across social media posts, WhatsApp broadcasts, physical posters, word of mouth, and different websites. This fragmentation makes it time-consuming for users to search for events and difficult to verify important details. As a result, users frequently miss events they would have loved to attend or arrive with incomplete information.
The Solution
A location-based event discovery app that helps users easily find upcoming events and programs within their state. The app centralizes event information into a single, organized platform, providing clear and complete details including event description, date and time, venue, pricing, attendance requirements, and organizer information. By simplifying how people discover and access events around them, the product seeks to reduce missed opportunities, improve trust in event information, and encourage greater social engagement, community participation, and attendance at cultural, festive, and educational programs.

Product Overview
Hapnin is a centralized event discovery platform that helps people easily find, verify, and plan attendance for nearby events with confidence.
Problem Statement
Across many states, people are genuinely interested in attending social events, festivals, faith-based gatherings, and educational programs. However, discovering these events remains a frustrating experience because there is no single, reliable platform that shows what is happening around them in one place. Event information is often scattered across social media posts, WhatsApp broadcasts, physical posters, word of mouth, and different websites. This fragmentation makes it time-consuming for users to search for events and difficult to verify important details. As a result, users frequently miss events they would have loved to attend or arrive with incomplete information.
In many cases, essential details such as event date, venue, time, pricing (free or paid), registration process, and organizer credibility are either unclear or inconsistent across sources. This lack of clarity creates uncertainty, discourages attendance, and makes planning ahead stressful, especially for users who want to manage their time, budget, and location effectively.
Challenges
- Event information is scattered across multiple platforms, making discovery time-consuming and inefficient
- There is no single trusted platform that aggregates events happening within a user's location
- Users struggle to verify the accuracy and credibility of event information
- Important event details like date, time, venue, pricing, registration are often missing, unclear, or inconsistent
- Users find it difficult to compare multiple events and decide which one fits their schedule and budget
- Lack of clear information creates uncertainty and hesitation, discouraging users from attending events
Solution Statement
This project aims to design a location-based event discovery app that helps users easily find upcoming events and programs within their state.
The Goal
- Centralize event discovery by providing a single platform where users can find all nearby social, cultural, faith-based, and educational events
- Reduce the time and effort required to discover relevant events by simplifying search and browsing
- Ensure clarity and consistency of event information through standardized event details (date, time, venue, cost, registration)
- Improve trust and credibility by helping users verify event organizers and event authenticity
- Enable better planning by giving users clear visibility into event timing, location, and pricing
- Help users find relevant events faster using smart filtering by location, date, category, and cost
- Prevent missed opportunities by helping users discover events early and stay informed
- Create a stress-free event discovery experience that replaces fragmented and unreliable sources
- Support event organizers with a structured way to publish accurate and complete event details
- Increase event attendance by reducing uncertainty and improving user confidence in event information
Our Mission
Our mission is to make discovering local events reliable and stress-free. We aim to bring all events into one trusted platform. By providing location-based information, we help people plan confidently and never miss events that matter to them.
Products
Web-Based Landing Page
We will begin with a web-based landing page that serves as the primary entry point for users. This page will introduce the product, communicate its value, and allow early users to discover events, understand how the platform works, and sign up for updates. The landing page also helps validate interest, gather early feedback, and onboard event organizers with minimal friction.
Mobile Applications
We will expand into mobile applications to deliver a more personalized and location-driven experience. The mobile apps will focus on real-time event discovery, filtering, saving events, notifications, and planning features, providing users with a seamless and convenient way to stay updated on events around them. This phased approach allows us to test core assumptions early while building toward a richer, mobile-first experience.
Services
Ticket Selling & Buying
We provide a seamless way for users to purchase or reserve tickets directly within the platform, eliminating the need to switch between multiple websites or links. For free events, users can register, while paid events benefit from clear pricing, availability, and confirmation. This ensures a trustworthy transaction process and reduces uncertainty around attendance.
Booking & Logistics Support (Uber, Hotels)
To help users plan beyond just attending an event, the platform integrates transportation and accommodation options such as ride-hailing (e.g., Uber) and nearby hotels. Users can quickly estimate travel time, book rides, or find accommodation close to the event venue, especially for events outside their immediate area.
Event Location & Navigation Assistance
The app provides clear venue information, maps, and directions to help users arrive on time without confusion. This is especially valuable for first-time venues or large events.
Event Reminders & Notifications
Users receive reminders before events and updates if there are changes to time, venue, or schedule. This reduces missed events and last-minute surprises.
What Stands Out
Our app stands out by offering a truly centralized, location-first platform that brings together social, cultural, faith-based, and educational events in one reliable space. Unlike existing platforms that focus mainly on ticketed or niche events, it is designed for local and community-driven gatherings, including free and informal events that are often overlooked. The app emphasizes clarity, consistency, and trust by standardizing event details and highlighting organizer credibility, helping users confidently plan their time, budget, and attendance. With a simple, planning-focused user experience that reduces reliance on scattered sources like social media and WhatsApp, the platform makes discovering and attending events easier, more reliable, and stress-free for both users and organizers.

Design Thinking: Empathize
Research: Qualitative and Quantitative Research
We combined qualitative and quantitative research because each provides unique value. Qualitative research helps us uncover deep insights into user emotions, pain points, and motivations, answering the "why." Quantitative research allows us to measure and validate these insights with data, answering the "how many."
Research Objectives
- Identify how users currently find social, cultural, faith-based, and educational events
- Understand pain points related to event discovery, information clarity, and trust
- Explore how users evaluate event credibility and decide whether to attend
- Determine what information is most important to users when planning events
- Validate assumptions around location-based discovery and planning needs
Key Assumptions to Validate
- Users want a single, trusted platform for event discovery
- Missing or inconsistent event details discourage attendance
- Location-based filtering improves relevance
- Trust and organizer credibility affect user decision-making
Participants: We interviewed 32 individuals — 30 for quantitative research and 2 for qualitative research.
- Young Adults: 26
- People new to a city: 6
- Event organizers: 0
UX Insight Bullets (From Quantitative Research)
1. Users are interested in events but attend inconsistently. Missed events are often due to late discovery, not lack of interest. UX Insight: Users need early visibility of upcoming events to plan ahead.
2. Users rely on WhatsApp, Instagram, word of mouth, and flyers. There is no single, trusted source of truth. UX Insight: Users want a centralized platform that removes the need to search across multiple channels.
3. Many users spend 10-30 minutes or more searching for details. Information is often incomplete or scattered. UX Insight: Users value fast scanning and clarity over excessive content.
4. Unclear venue, time, pricing, and registration discourage users. Verifying event legitimacy is difficult. UX Insight: Trust and clarity are essential for decision-making.
5. Knowing whether an event is free or paid is extremely important. Unclear pricing leads to abandonment. UX Insight: Pricing should be visible at a glance, not hidden deep in the flow.
6. Users strongly prefer events within their city or state. Seeing irrelevant events causes frustration. UX Insight: Location-based personalization is a core requirement, not a nice-to-have.
7. Saved events and reminders are rated highly useful. UX Insight: Users want tools that support planning and follow-through, not just discovery.

Problem Statement
People are interested in attending local events, but often miss them because event discovery is fragmented, unclear, and unreliable. Information is scattered across multiple channels, making it hard to find, verify, and plan around key details like time, location, cost, and organizer credibility leading to missed opportunities and low attendance.
Research to Insights to Solution Flow
- Research Finding: Users rely on scattered channels to discover events, often receive incomplete or unclear information, and frequently miss events they are interested in. Event discovery is time-consuming, stressful, and unreliable.
- Key Insight: Users need a single, reliable source for discovering local events. Early and clear information increases the likelihood of attendance. Trust and transparency influence decision-making. Location relevance and category filtering reduce cognitive overload. Planning features (save, reminders) support real-life behavior.
- Design Solution: Home feed prioritizes upcoming events and dates. Centralized event feed with complete details in one place. Scannable event cards, clear hierarchy, and filters. Organizer profiles, verified badges, and structured event details. Free/Paid tags displayed on event cards and details page. Location-based feed and interest selection during onboarding. Save events and reminder functionality.
